Classroom Recording Consent

What is recorded in a Live Class classroom, why, and how recordings are handled.

FiliLearn Live Classes may be recorded.

This disclosure explains what may be recorded, why recording occurs, who may access recordings, and how recordings may be used.

1. What May Be Recorded

A Live Class recording may include:

  • Teacher video
  • Learner video
  • Teacher audio
  • Learner audio
  • Lesson presentation
  • Slides
  • Lesson navigation
  • Annotations
  • Classroom interactions
  • Screen content used within the class
  • Classroom chat
  • Session timestamps
  • Attendance events

2. Why FiliLearn Records Classes

Recordings may be used for legitimate purposes including:

  • Learner safety
  • Teacher safety
  • Quality assurance
  • Teacher review
  • Training
  • Dispute resolution
  • Investigation of reports
  • Technical troubleshooting
  • Verifying class delivery
  • Policy enforcement
  • Compliance

3. Recording Start And End

Where supported, recording may begin automatically when the official class session begins.

Recording may end when the Teacher ends the class or when the session otherwise ends.

Teachers may not independently disable mandatory recording where FiliLearn requires recording for the class.

4. Recording Indicator

FiliLearn should clearly indicate when classroom recording is active.

The interface should display an appropriate recording notice.

5. Access

Classroom recordings are restricted.

Authorized access may be provided to:

  • Super Admin
  • Authorized Admin personnel
  • Other personnel only where access is reasonably necessary and properly authorized

Teachers and Learners do not automatically receive access to internal audit recordings.

6. Access Logging

FiliLearn may log access to recordings.

Logs may include:

  • Person who accessed the recording
  • Role
  • Session ID
  • Time
  • Reason where applicable

7. Session ID

Every Live Class may be assigned a unique Session ID.

The Session ID may connect:

  • Recording
  • Teacher
  • Learner
  • Lesson
  • Attendance
  • Chat
  • Technical events
  • Class activity
  • Administrative review

Knowing a Session ID does not grant access to a recording.

8. Chat

Classroom chat may be stored separately from video recording.

Chat may be reviewed with the classroom session for authorized audit purposes.

9. Connection Events

FiliLearn may retain events showing:

  • Teacher joined
  • Learner joined
  • Teacher left
  • Learner left
  • Connection loss
  • Reconnect
  • Class ended

These events assist with attendance and dispute review.

10. Minors

Where a Learner is a minor, recording authorization will be handled according to applicable legal and parental consent requirements.

Where parental consent is legally required, the minor’s agreement alone is not a substitute for required parental authorization.

11. Prohibited Recording By Users

Learners and Teachers may not independently:

  • Record another participant without authorization
  • Redistribute FiliLearn classroom recordings
  • Upload classroom recordings publicly
  • Post another participant’s image or voice without authorization
  • Sell classroom recordings
  • Share recordings outside authorized FiliLearn channels

12. Retention

Recordings will be retained according to FiliLearn’s recording retention policy.

Recordings may be retained longer where necessary for:

  • Safety review
  • Disputes
  • Legal requirements
  • Administrative investigation
  • Litigation hold
  • Regulatory requirements

13. Security

FiliLearn intends to protect recordings using access controls and restricted delivery methods.

Recordings should not be made available through unrestricted public URLs.

14. Consent

For an adult Learner or other person legally capable of consenting:

By affirmatively accepting the classroom recording disclosure and entering a class that is designated as recorded, you consent to the recording and authorized processing described in this notice.

For minors, the appropriate parent or guardian authorization must be obtained where required.

15. Consent Record

FiliLearn may retain:

  • User ID
  • Session ID
  • Consent version
  • Timestamp
  • Consent method
  • Parent or guardian authorization status where applicable
